We have all seen them, and probably panic a little when one comes on. Check engine, brakes, traction control, tire pressure, gears, triangles, lightning bolts…and the list goes on. Each year vehicles become more complicated, have more on-board computers and have an array of warning lights or messages that can tell us when a system is malfunctioning. This is all good for your safety and to let you know of impeding problems, but that does not make It any easier for you when one comes on.

In selected counties in Wisconsin every vehicle 1996 and newer needs to meet emissions requirements. These are Federally mandated systems monitored on your vehicle according to the Federal Clean Air Act. This testing is usually required every two years, or when you buy a used vehicle. This is as simple as finding a testing facility close to you, and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to have your vehicle tested. The most common type of failures is that your check engine light is on or it did not pass the testing monitors.

Tires are what keep your car on the road, and in Wisconsin it’s essential to have good tread. We can install a wide variety of tires on your vehicle, but our preference are Continental and General tires. We have state of the art tire mounting and balancing equipment and can do up to a 24-inch wheel. We will clean up any excessive corrosion on your wheels and make sure your tire pressure monitoring system is working properly. Wheels are torqued to factory specs and a final test drive is done to verify our repairs.

Probably the most needed and frequent service done on a vehicle is the oil change. Although this seems like a mundane and simple service there is nothing more important in protecting your engine that changing your oil. We offer both semi-synthetic and full-synthetic oil changes to fit your vehicles needs but most importantly we will make sure we are putting the CORRECT oil in your car. Every vehicle manufacture has specific oil standards that they require to maintain your warranty and to give you the longest engine life possible, and not all engine oils meet all standards.

Your exhaust system not only keeps your vehicle quiet but also keeps all the exhaust gases from your engine exiting at the back of your vehicle. If your starting to hear a little rumble it might be time to have your exhaust system inspected. Whether it is your muffler, exhaust pipes, catalytic converter, sensors or any other component associated with your exhaust system, we have the tools, training and personnel to make any needed repairs.

The entire weight of your vehicle, and all the people in it are riding on your suspension, literally. From your shocks and springs to the control arms and ball joints your suspension is constantly moving as you drive down the road. Eventually these parts are going to start wearing out. Having your suspension inspected from time to time is a good idea to prevent untimely breakdowns. At American Imports we can handle any suspension repairs.
