Brakes

Brakes

Brakes are what stop your vehicle, plain and simple. Seeing an average vehicle weighs 4,000 pounds we take brakes very seriously. We recommend having your brakes inspected at least once a year. It is always better to catch worn out brakes early than wait until there is a problem.

Brake inspections

Whether you’re going on vacation, need a scheduled maintenance, hear a squeaking noise, feel a vibration or suspect brake failure, our technicians are trained to inspect your entire brake system This includes the brake linings, calipers and wheel cylinders, hoses and lines, brake fluid as well as a function test to make sure they are working 100%. If there are services that need to be done, we will give you a written estimate of repairs for your approval.

Service and Repair

Once our inspection is done and the recommended services are approved we will only use high quality brake products. Our ASE certified technicians will perform the repairs to industry standards and verify each repair with a test drive to make sure your brakes are working at top efficiency.

Brake fluid service

Brake fluid is often overlooked and thought of as a lifetime fluid, but there is nothing further from the truth. Brake fluid is hydroscopic, which means it attracts moisture (water) from the air. This happens naturally over time and it can have a big effect on your brake system. If too much moisture gets in your brake system, it will lower the boiling point of the fluid (a 3% water content can lower the boiling point by 100 degrees!) which can lead to brake fade. Also, moisture is corrosive and can start to damage internal parts of your braking system like brake lines, calipers, wheel cylinders and your brake master cylinder.

During our brake inspections we always check the water content of the fluid, anything over 2% we will recommend a brake fluid flush. Also, most car manufactures will recommend the brake fluid being changed every three years.
