Maintenance Services

Oil changes

Probably the most needed and frequent service done on a vehicle is the oil change. Although this seems like a mundane and simple service there is nothing more important in protecting your engine that changing your oil. We offer both semi-synthetic and full-synthetic oil changes to fit your vehicles needs but most importantly we will make sure we are putting the CORRECT oil in your car. Every vehicle manufacture has specific oil standards that they require to maintain your warranty and to give you the longest engine life possible, and not all engine oils meet all standards.

But not to worry, we carry a variety of motor oils to meet all the standards that your vehicle may require. We will make sure your engine is getting the correct oil and a quality oil filter to keep your engine purring for many years to come.

Scheduled Maintenance

All vehicles have factory maintenance schedules that the manufacture would like you to follow to keep your vehicle in tip-top shape. Who better to know what your vehicle needs for regular service than the people who made it! We are a firm believer in following these maintenance schedules and have years of experience to prove that they do keep your vehicle running longer and can prevent future breakdowns and costly repairs. We can let you know when these services are due, what needs to be done and put your vehicle on a schedule for future services.

Tire Rotations

Tire rotations are another service that seems simple but can have a big effect if not done regularly. Depending on how you drive and what vehicle you have we recommend rotating your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. The goal is to keep your tire tread relatively equal on all four wheels. This is especially important on vehicles that are all wheel drive. As tires wear the circumference gets smaller which means they will roll at different speeds. If too far off this can put a strain on your drive train. Keeping your tires rotated will also reduce irregular tire wear, road noise and give you the longest tire life possible.

Fluid Changes

There are many other fluids in your vehicle other than engine oil such as: transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, blinker fluid (just kidding). This can be a hot topic especially when it is presented to you as an upsell based on fluid color. At American Imports we can change any fluid on the vehicle but prefer to go off the manufactures recommended maintenance schedule. There are exceptions on when to change these fluids sooner, but we will take the time to explain to you when the fluid services need to be done and why.

Timing Belts

Your vehicles engine has a lot of moving parts to make it work. There are pistons, valves, camshafts, crankshafts and a slew of other parts spinning or moving in perfect harmony to keep your car rocking down the road.

One of these parts is called a Timing Chain or Timing Belt. Its job is to keep the moving parts on the top half of your engine in perfect sync with the moving parts on the bottom half of your engine, or to keep the moving parts ‘In Time’.  If your engine has a Timing Belt and it breaks, the moving parts can contact each other and cause serious engine damage.

Your vehicles manufacture will have a schedule to replace this belt at certain mileage intervals. If you’re not sure about this give us a call and we can figure it out for you. Along with that there are other components you might want to consider replacing when doing this job, like the water pump or the accessory drive belts to save you money down the road. Either way we have qualified technicians that can perform this service and keep your engine running at its best.
